Rev. Josh Martin of Redeemer Church in Santa Maria, California has a very informative and useful post on “A Wrong and Right Way to Read the Bible.” This will greatly benefit pastors and elders in preaching and teaching God’s Word.
His example is 1 Samuel 18:3 when Jonathan “made a covenant with David, because he loved him as his own soul.” Josh’s exegesis reveals that this text is not about true friendship between the two, but about Jonathan’s choice between “friendship with God or with the world.”
