Great Commission “Fulfilled” in 2010s?
“From the way God is moving today, even without some terrific eye of faith, I have been persuaded it will be fulfilled in our lifetimes and I personally think in the next decade.”
According to a news report, Steve Douglass, current president of Campus Crusade for Christ International, says that the Great Commission may be “fulfilled” in the next decade. This is date-setting in disguise, for when all of God’s elect has been saved, the Great Commission is “fulfilled,” and Jesus would return.
And Dr. Scott Clark asks, “Really? How would anyone know? What constitutes “fulfilling†the Great Commission?” It seems that some people like Douglass have special knowledge (gnosis) of God’s eternal mind and plan. Read more here:

Maybe Douglass has seen this “world evangelism clock” which a church uses to count each and every person in the world whose heart is renewed by the Holy Spirit every second of the day! I wonder what kind of super-duper computer can see the Spirit’s work in the human heart.
Douglass also adds texting and the Internet to the three Biblical means of grace (preaching, sacraments, and prayer). “Internet witnessing is growing massively with over 3 million decisions for Christ through the internet last year, and they’re projecting 5 million next year,” Douglass reports. “Decisions for Christ”: so people save themselves by their own decisions?
