New Series: 1 & 2 Thessalonians—Faithful Living Before Rapture
Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.
Paul’s two letters to the church in Thessalonica were meant to encourage them in the wake of the unexpected deaths of some of their brethren, reassuring them that both those who have died and those who are living will be saved at the second coming of Christ. He also wanted to give them hope in the face of persecution.
Following up on his first letter, Paul wrote a second letter to reassure those terrified that the day of the Lord had come and they missed it. Persecution also continued so he wanted to strengthen them further. Lastly, he wanted to deal with some brethren who did not want to earn their own living.
You’re cordially invited to join Pasig Covenant Reformed Church in our study of a frequently misinterpreted epistle.
